Editing & Proofreading
Even the most gifted researchers and writers benefit from having another set of eyes reviewing what they’ve created for grammar and flow. Through In Scripto, I can provide you with this level of support for your grant proposal, manuscripts, or other pieces of writing.
Also, because I have a background in scientific research with a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Emory University, I am able to support you in more in-depth ways by editing your writing for content and structure.
The ideas and findings are yours, but with my expertise and feedback, you can be certain to communicate them as clearly and effectively as possible — increasing your chances of receiving funding or getting published. Email me now to learn more and discover if this is the right support for you.
Writing & Consulting
Have you ever shut yourself in your office, knowing you only have 30 minutes to write, but you just can’t find the flow? You know what you need to say, but the blank page keeps staring back at you. I get it, and I’m here to support you.
Whether you need someone to write a first draft to get you started or transform an outline to a finished project, I’ve got you covered. Email me now to learn more and discover if this is the right option for you.
Project Planning & Accountability
Getting a new project off of the ground can be daunting —especially with everything else you have on your plate from running a lab to teaching classes and so much more! Working in academia requires you to wear many hats, and it can be challenging to focus on what direction to take next.
If you have trouble getting papers out for review or completing grant proposals before the deadline, let me help. Together, we can make a publication plan and grant writing schedule to ensure that you clear your backlog of data, skip the last-minute grant rush, and get your proposal in with room to breathe. Email me now to get started.
Are you a department chair seeking support for your faculty? Let’s chat! I can work with individual researchers or a department as a whole. Having one professional writer “on call” for your department provides many advantages. Together, we can help your department get more grants and more publications.
A Note About Ghostwriting in Academia
My mission is to help you effectively and expertly communicate your ideas and research in every piece I help to proofread, edit, or write. While I have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, I am by no means an expert in all of the subject matters in which I support my clients.
To ensure that authorship and science communication is done ethically and responsibly, I follow the ‘GATE’ principles in my role as a professional writer.
Here are the GATE principles I follow:
Guarantee: The authors must be the guarantors of the article. You must agree to never submit a manuscript or grant that I have written or edited without reading it in its entirety.
Advice: The authors must provide me with adequate advice before and during the writing process. I want to help you get YOUR ideas out there. Not my own.
Transparency: My contribution must be acknowledged in the final product.
Expertise: I do not claim to be an expert in YOUR field, but I can lend my expertise in science comprehension and writing to help you communicate your ideas. If, however, I feel out of my depth in your field, I will require more time to familiarize myself with your subject matter and greater input from you. There may arise a situation where we agree that I am not the right fit for your project.
For more information on the GATE principles, I encourage you to read this article on the involvement of professional writers in publications.
